Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation

 

 Injuries are frustrating.  They can decrease the ability to maintain an active lifestyle,as well as the quality of everyday life.  As an athlete, an injury can be a significant set back in training and mentally can be difficult to come back from.  Although injuries occur quickly, they often take months and even years to fully recover from.  

The recovery process consists of more than just rest and rehabilitation exercises.  Although, those are an important aspect, making sure that you are getting enough nutrients, drinking enough water and getting adequate sleep is vital to speeding up the healing process.

Here are some important aspects to keep in mind when recovering from an injury:

  • Physical medicine (acupuncture, manipulation, soft tissue work, rehabilitation exercises)
  • Nutrition and Hydration
  • Supplementation
  • Adequate Sleep
  • Adequate Rest
  • Active recovery
  • Long term approach – be patient
